This juvenile Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata) seems to enjoy my cherry tree. They are four of those, with an adult comming sometime to time to feed.

To protect your cherries from birds, buy a wooden spool of white thread. It should be about a mile long.
Tie one end of the thread to a branch and keep throwing the spool over and through the branches of the tree until you've exhausted the thread.
Voila, the birds see the thread and leave the tree alone.
